Linux Lite 6.6 RC1 Released with 22 New Languages Support

Linux Lite, a lightweight Ubuntu based Linux Distribution, announced first RC release for the next 6.6 version!

This is a big release according to the release announcement. Linux Lite 6.6 adds 22 new languages support. Translations will apply to application names, app window menu, main menu, context menu, folder names, notifications, and so forth.

And,the new supported languages include:

  • Afrikaans
  • Arabic
  • Chinese – Simplified
  • Croatian
  • Dutch
  • Finnish
  • French
  • German
  • Hebrew
  • Hindi
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Persian
  • Polish
  • Portuguese
  • Portuguese – Brazilian
  • Russian
  • Serbian
  • Spanish
  • Sweden
  • Ukranian

To change your system language, simply launch “Language Support” utility, then click “Install / Remove Languages” button and select install your desired language.

To apply new language (same to Ubuntu), drag your language to the top in first tab, and click “Apply System-Wide”. Also, select your language in ‘Regional Formats’ tab and also apply system wide.

Besides new languages support, the release also include theme updates, most recent applications, and the welcome dialog improvements.

And, this light, good-looking, beginner friendly system still based on Ubuntu 22.04, Kernel 5.15 LTS and XFCE 4.16 for easy use and stability for old machines.

  • 1Ghz processor

  • VGA screen capable of 1024×768 resolution
  • DVD drive or USB port for the ISO image
