VLC 3.0.13 Released with SSA Text Scaling & NFSv4 Support

The VideoLAN team announced the release of VLC 3.0.13, and then 3.0.14 with quick-fix for Windows.

VLC 3.0.13 is the fourteenth update of the 3.0 “Vetinari” series. It comes mainly bug-fixes and improvements. There are however two new features: text scaling support for SSA subtitle file, and NFSv4 (Network File System version 4) support.

Other changes in the release include:

  • Fix artefacts in HLS streams with wrong profiles/levels
  • Fix regression on some MP4 files for the audio track
  • Fix MPGA and ADTS probing in TS files
  • Fix Flac inside AVI files
  • Fix VP9/Webm artefacts when seeking
  • Fix rotation on Android rotation
  • Fix WebVTT subtitles that start at 00:00
  • Improve SMB2 integration
  • Fix Blu-ray files using Unicode names on Windows
  • Disable mcast lookups on Android for RTSP playback
  • Rework the D3D11 rendering wait, to fix choppiness on display
  • Fix VLC getting stuck on close on X11
  • Improve RTL on preferences on macOS
  • Add mousewheel horizontal axis control
  • Fix crash on exit on macOS
  • Fix sizing of the fullscreen controls on macOS
  • Fix subtitles/OSD under Windows XP
  • Improve MIDI fonts search on Linux
  • Update Soundcloud, Youtube, liveleak
  • Fix compilation with GCC11
  • Fix input-slave option for subtitles

How to Get VLC 3.0

The VideoLAN Team does not offer the binary package for Linux user. You can either wait your Linux distribution to update the package, or use the universal VLC Snap or Flatpak packages. See this how to guide for detail.
