The Linux Mint team is preparing for the 21.2 release for a few months. It’s now available for beta testing!

Linux Mint 21.2, codename “Victoria”, features Cinnamon Desktop 5.8. Which, has an exciting new feature worth to wait for laptop/notebook users. It’s gestures support for touchpads, touchscreens and tablets.

The new release will introduce a ‘Gestures‘ page in System Settings. In my tests, it’s based on the popular touchegg service.

If you have proper device (touchpad, touchscreen, etc) and services installed, then it opens the settings page allows to configure:

  • 3-finger/4-finger swipe actions.
  • 2/3/4-finger pinch actions.
  • activation thresholds.

The ‘Themes’ settings page now features a new ‘Style‘. Each style can have a different theme, color scheme (light, dark, or mixed), and accent colors!
