Linux Lite, the lightweight Ubuntu based Linux distribution, released version 6.4 a few days ago!
Linux Lite 6.x is based on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. It features the XFCE4 desktop environment, targets for old and low end computers support. While, providing an elegant desktop appearance.
The new Linux Lite 6.4 was released last Friday, features WebP image format support. So, the default Thunar file manager will now properly display the thumbnail preview for that file format.
The release also added “SystemD” support for its built-in system report dialog. Make it easy to diagnose a variety of booting and general system inquiries.
Other changes in the release include:
- Use ZSTD compression for packaging, results smaller package sizes.
- Thunderbird gets, Redesigned Icons, Spaces Toolbar, New Address Book, Message Header Customization, Import and Export Wizard and Matrix Chat Support.
- New wallpapers.
- Updated icon theme.
- And updated chrome, LibreOffice, and other core applications.

The previous Linux Lite 6.x user can open “Settings Manager” and click “Lite Upgrade” to upgrade to the new release.
