This is a beginner’s guide for those who want to add, remove, or edit startup applications in Ubuntu with default Gnome Desktop.
Ubuntu has a built-in tool to manage the startup applications. Just click “Show Applications” or “Activities” to bring up search box, type to search and hit Enter to open it.
The tool by default lists only a few user level startup programs.
Allows you to add, remove, and edit the applications that starts automatically on system startup.
Show all the hidden startup programs / services in Ubuntu:
More startup daemons and services are however hidden by default. To get them, simply open terminal
and run command:
sudo sed -i 's/NoDisplay=true/NoDisplay=false/g' /etc/xdg/autostartif ( !!window.jQuery ) {(function($){$(document).ready(function(){if ( !!window.SLB ) { {$.extend(SLB, {"context":["public","user_guest"]});} }})})(jQuery);}
