How to Install Pantheon Tweaks in Elementary OS 7

The software developer maintains a PPA repository contains the package, which was updated just a few days ago for the new eOS 7 release.

You can install it by following the steps below one by one:

    1. Firstly, search for and open a terminal window from the top-left ‘Applications’ menu.
    2. When terminal opens, run the command below to add the PPA repository:
      sudo add-apt-repository ppa:philip.scott/pantheon-tweaks

Type user password when it asks and hit Enter to continue. NOTE: the command may NOT work on a fresh installed system. If so, run sudo apt install software-properties-common command and then re-run the command above.

    3. Finally, install the tweak tool by running command in terminal:
      sudo apt install pantheon-tweaks

After successfully installed the tool, open or re-open the System Settings from the bottom dock launcher. You’ll see the new Tweaks option available under Personal section.

By clicking on it will open the settings page for hidden options.

Uninstall Pantheon Tweaks

For any reason if you want to remove this settings panel, open a terminal window from application menu and run command:

sudo apt remove --autoremove pantheon-tweaks

Then, open/re-open System Settings. The Tweaks option should be gone!

Also, you may remove the PPA repository by running a command in terminal window:

sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:philip.scott/pantheon-tweaks

That’s all. Enjoy!
