KDiskMark – Free Open-Source HDD / SSD Disk Benchmark Tool for Linux

KDiskMark is a free and open-source HDD and SSD benchmark tool for Linux Distros.

The software is written in C++ with Qt5 framework. It has a very friendly graphical user interface similar to CrystalDiskMark. With its presets and powerful GUI calls Flexible I/O Tester and handles the output to provide an easy to view and interpret comprehensive benchmark result.

KDiskMark features:

  • Configurable block size, queues, and threads count for each test

How to Get KDiskMark in Linux:

Install KDiskMark via PPA in Ubuntu:

The software offers an official PPA so far supports for Ubuntu 18.04, Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 22.04, and Linux Mint 20/21.

  1. Open terminal and run command to add the PPA:
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jonmagon/kdiskmark

  2. Then run 2 commands one by one to refresh package cache and install the benchmark tool:
    sudo apt update
    sudo apt install kdiskmark

To uninstall the PPA, run command:

sudo add-apt-repository --remove ppa:jonmagon/kdiskmark

And remove the software if you want by running command:

sudo apt remove --autoremove kdiskmark

Install KDiskMark in Fedora:

Open terminal and run following commands one by one:

sudo dnf copr enable atim/kdiskmark -y
sudo dnf install kdiskmark
