After more than 2 years, Bodhi Linux finally announced the new major 7.0 release, based on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
Bodhi Linux is an elegant and lightweight Linux Distribution based on Debian and Ubuntu. Which, features Moksha, an Enlightenment-17-based desktop environment.
The latest Bodhi 7.0 uses Ubuntu 22.04 package base and features 3 official flavors: Standard with 5.15 GA Kernel, Hwe with 6.2 Kernel, and new s76 with bleeding edge Kernel (6.4.6). Also, there’ll be a legacy 32-bit version of Bodhi 7.0, based on Debian, available in next few weeks.
Besides the new Kernels and package base, core libraries such as EFL and Terminology are updated to latest, Moksha no longer relies on deprecated libraries.
There are also new default Moksha Green theme, refreshed boot animation and numerous fine-tuning.
Bodhi 7.0 has Chromium web browser as default. However, there’s new Web Browser Manager tool inspired the one from the Classic Zorin OS. With it, user can install (or remove) many web browsers as easy as a few mouse clicks. They include:
- Firefox
- Brave
- Google Chrome
- Chromium
- Opera
- Falkon
- Palemoon
- Slimjet
- Vivaldi
- Waterfox.
Other changes include:
- Kernel updates enabled by default.
- Key bindings tool, to view & edit shortcut keys.
- Include Mozilla Team PPA for the latest Firefox in classic DEB format.
- Include kelebek333’s PPA for Nvidia-340 legacy driver
- New wallpapers.

- CPU: 32bit, 500MHz Processor for legacy version. 64bit, 1.0GHz processor recommanded.
- RAM: at least 512 MB.
- Disk: 5 GB for installation.
